This year, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Camarena Health Scholarship Program by giving out over $25,000 worth of scholarships!

Since 1995, Camarena Health has awarded 168 scholarships (and a total of $234,200) to Madera County high school graduates pursuing a career in healthcare. This year, we were proud to award 14 new scholarships of $2,000 each to the following Madera County students:

Two former Camarena Health scholarship recipients, Dr. Raul Calderon (who received his scholarship in 1997) and Jessica Rangel (who received her scholarship in 2003), also attended and spoke at the anniversary celebration. These Madera High graduates used their scholarships to attend UC Davis and UC Berkeley, respectively. Dr. Calderon is now a practicing anesthesiologist at Clovis Community Hospital, while Mrs. Rangel develops social services programs and community initiatives at the Fresno County Social Services Department. Both Dr. Calderon and Mrs. Rangel graciously offered their support and mentorship to this year’s scholarship recipients.

Each year, our Board of Directors, past board members, current and former employees, local partners, and community members work together to raise funds for our Scholarship Program. We’d like to thank each of these groups, as well as the following generous donors:
