Four Years of Partnership and Workforce Development
“Our partnership with the Workforce Assistance Center has been great and very fruitful over the last four years,” said Camarena Health Chief Human Resource Officer Gabriel Mejia. “We quickly found out that we had a lot of positions available where we could place some of the Workforce Assistance Center’s students and clients, and those people could receive the training they needed to find employment.”
Many of those Workforce Assistance placements have turned into full-time jobs for Madera County residents, as Camarena Health continues growing to meet both the employment and healthcare needs of our community.
“I didn’t know where to go, where to turn to – I really felt helpless trying to find a job late after I finished high school,” said Angelica Maciel-Gil, a former Workforce Assistance Center student who now works as a Front Staff Support Member at Camarena Health. “Once the Workforce Assistance Center gave me my job here at Camarena Health, they still kept in touch every single week. They paid me, they helped me, I mean they even bought me scrubs. So I just thought it was really cool.”

At Camarena Health, we do not think of ourselves as just a healthcare provider. Instead, we act as a partner in the Central California communities that we serve. Programs like our partnership with the Madera Workforce Assistance Center are our way of strengthening our community – and ensuring that we’re ready for the future of healthcare.
“Madera is growing, and so medical services are going to be more in demand,” said Pam Lowery, Business Specialist at the Madera County Workforce Investment Corporation. “So our partnership with Camarena Health is actually training some of our customers to meet that need.”
