Safety can feel intangible until the moment it matters most. At Camarena Health, we believe in making safety a lived experience for our community. For one local mother, that commitment became lifesaving. Camarena Health’s Car Seat Class, taught by Health Educator Melinda Guerrero, is more than just an educational session; it’s a safeguard for children and peace of mind for parents.
For over a decade, Melinda has led this class with dedication and a hands-on approach. Each session focuses on teaching parents and caregivers how to properly install car seats, ensuring every child is seated securely. This mother had taken Melinda’s class, and during a devastating car accident, she put that knowledge to use, making sure her children were correctly seated. Thanks to her training, her children walked away from the crash unharmed.

“If it wasn’t for those classes, I don’t know what would have been the outcome,” Melinda remembers the mother saying, as she shared photos of the accident’s aftermath.
Camarena Health Foundation exists to support initiatives like Melinda’s class that bring lasting, impactful changes to the lives of our community members. For this mother, and many others, the lessons learned in our car seat classes are ones that matter in the most critical of times.
