Camarena Health is excited and proud to announce our diabetes classes have officially been accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE)! Accreditation from the AADE ensures our diabetes program abides by standards that ensure quality education in order to improve patient outcomes. Our program now includes an initial individual assessment completed by our Registered Dietitian and health education team, in order to develop an individualized educational plan for patients. The patient then attend the recommended two-hour classes (or all classes if they choose) which provides specific education related to his/her needs. There are four classes total that go over blood sugar monitoring, healthy eating, physical activity, healthy coping, taking medications, reducing risks, and problem solving with diabetes. Each class is focused on patient engagement in order to promote learning and improve diabetes management. And lastly, the patient has a one-on-one follow up with someone from the health education team. Our newly accredited program is fun, interactive, and can help patient’s focus on daily self-management goals to stay healthy with diabetes. Classes will continue to be provided free of charge for patients.
