2024 Women’s Health & Wellness Conference
Camarena Health proudly hosted the Shine Together Women’s Health & Wellness Conference, welcoming over 100 women from across Madera County and even neighboring states and countries. This annual event brought together women of all backgrounds for an empowering day focused on health, wellness, and personal growth. With inspiring speakers, powerful stories, and moments of connection, the conference left attendees feeling uplifted and ready to prioritize their well-being.
The day kicked off with Carolina Gutierrez Garcia, a Family Medicine Physician at Camarena Health, who spoke on “Nutrition for Health and Wellness.” Dr. Garcia’s insights on the latest nutritional findings, including myths about popular diets and practical advice on healthy eating, resonated deeply. Attendees left with valuable tips on food choices that align with their wellness goals.
Following Dr. Garcia, Rosalba Serrano Rivera, Director of Behavioral Health, and Lucia Ochoa, Behavioral Health Clinician at Camarena Health, took the stage for a session on “Self-Love and Connection: Foundations for Healthy Relationships.” Rosalba and Lucia’s insights on building positive relationships were not only thought-provoking but also deeply personal. Their stories and practical advice reminded everyone of the importance of self-compassion and connection with others as core components of a healthy life.
After a short break, the audience welcomed Andrea Andrade, an entrepreneur and cancer survivor, who shared her journey of resilience and triumph. In her talk, “A Story of Resilience & Success: Thriving as an Entrepreneur While Battling Cancer,” Andrea spoke about her early days in the pageant and broadcasting world and how her life took a sharp turn with a cancer diagnosis. Despite the challenges, Andrea co-founded Not All Heroes Wear Capes, a nonprofit dedicated to giving children battling cancer and their families a magical night to remember. Her story was a powerful reminder of the strength it takes to redefine one’s life in the face of adversity.
Our keynote speaker, Claudia Castorena Castro, Vice President of Binational of Central California, concluded the conference with an inspirational talk titled “Heal Your Mind, Shine Your Light.” Claudia’s powerful message about overcoming mental health struggles and navigating the obstacles in her life inspired all in attendance. Her journey of resilience and mental wellness underscored the importance of finding and nurturing one’s inner strength.
As the conference wrapped up, the energy in the room was electric. Women left feeling encouraged, supported, and seen—ready to embark on their wellness journeys with a renewed sense of purpose and connection. As we continue to support one another on our wellness journeys, we are reminded that together, we shine!
