At Camarena Health, the well-being of our expectant mothers and their babies is at the heart of what we do. When we identified a significant gap in prenatal care for those diagnosed with gestational diabetes, it became clear that immediate action was necessary to protect our community. This led to the creation of our in-house Gestational Diabetes Program—an initiative that not only fills a critical healthcare need but also reinforces our commitment to the overall health of our community.
Before the local hospital closure, patients with gestational diabetes were referred to the hospital for specialized care. However, with the loss of these essential services, mothers and their unborn babies faced increased risks, including oversized newborns, delivery injuries, hypoglycemia, respiratory difficulties, and a higher likelihood of emergency C-sections.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Camarena Health stepped in to provide an essential service to our community. Our Gestational Diabetes Program offers early detection and continuous, specialized care, allowing us to closely monitor and manage the condition throughout pregnancy. This proactive approach significantly reduces the risk of complications and ensures that mothers receive personalized care tailored to their evolving needs.
